"Man is a beggar before God".

Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God." But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or "out of the depths" of a humble and contrite heart? He who humbles himself will be exalted; humility is the foundation of prayer, Only when we humbly acknowledge that "we do not know how to pray as we ought," are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer.

Luke 18:9-14
9 He then addressed this parable to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else. 10 “Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, ‘O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity—greedy, dishonest, adulterous—or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.’13 But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, ‘O God, be merciful to me a sinner.’ 14 I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Meaning of Salvation

Salvation means, the forgiveness of sins
and restoration of friendship with God,
which can be done by God alone.
மீட்பு என்பது பாவ மன்னிப்பையும்,
கடவுளுடனான நட்பின் மறுசீரமைப்பையும் குறிக்கிறது;
இதை கடவுளால் மட்டுமே செய்ய முடியும்.

We can deepen our understanding of Salvation by reflecting on the meaning of the following key concepts:
Atonement

Each of these terms reveals a different dimension of what salvation truly means.

Atonement
Jesus Christ said,
“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
— Matthew 26:28
Atonement reveals how sins are forgiven through the sacrificial offering of Christ.
Eternal Life
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
— John 3:16
Eternal life is the gift of everlasting life granted to those who believe in Christ.
Reconciliation
God reconciles humanity—though sinful—to Himself through Christ, no longer counting their sins against them.
— Romans 5:11; Romans 11:15; 2 Corinthians 5:18–21
Reconciliation emphasizes restored relationship between God and humanity.
Redemption
Redemption is like a slave being set free when a price is paid on their behalf.
“The Son of Man came… to give his life as a ransom for many.”
— Matthew 20:28
It points to Christ’s sacrifice as the price paid for our freedom.

What is Vespers' Evening Prayer?

Evening Prayer (also called Vespers) is part of the Liturgy of the Hours, also known as the Divine Office. In the Liturgy of the Hours, the Church fulfills Jesus' command to "pray always" (Luke 18:1; see also 1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Vespers எனப்படும் மாலை செபம் என்றால் என்ன?

மாலைத் தொழுகை (Vespers என்றும் அழைக்கப்படுகிறது) என்பது திருவழிபாட்டு நேரங்கள் அல்லது திருச்சபையின் நாளாந்த செப ஒழுங்கின் ஒரு முக்கிய அங்கமாகும். இது பொதுவாக மாலை நேரத்தில் நடைபெறும் செபமாகும்.
